While playing a gacha game like Wuthering Waves, you'll have some of the most fun when you spend your hard-earned Astirites to get your favorite characters. However, this is just the first step since you'll now have to build these characters and find their best weapons, teammates, and Echoes.

If you're looking for a way to be efficient with your account and prepare it for the late game in Wuthering Waves, these tips will help you out.

While it's fairly easy to get most of the gear required for your characters, Echoes can be challenging as this system is quite unique. Once you understand how this system works, you'll easily be able to beat the hardest content in the game.

What Are Echoes?

Wuthering Waves: Complete Echo Guide (2)

You'll get introduced to the Echo system quite early in Wuthering Waves, but it's difficult to fully understand it. This is essentially the RNG-based system that's supposed to keep you grinding for a while every time you get a new character. You can get Echoes whenever you defeat an enemy or farm Tacet Fields during the late game.

Each character can hold up to five Echoes on them, and these provide the characters with various buffs. The top slot in the Echo screen for each character is the primary slot, and you'll be able to use a special ability for the Echo you place here, which makes it one of the most important parts of the game.

For most of your time in the game, you'll deal higher damage from these Echo abilities than you deal with your character skills.

These Echoes are divided into groups, and if you have multiple Echoes from the same group on a character, you can get a specific bonus. However, this is quite difficult to achieve so you should only focus on it during the late game. In the starting, getting random Echoes with specific stats for each character is more valuable.

How Does The Echo Cost System Work?

Wuthering Waves: Complete Echo Guide (3)

When you enter the Echo screen for the first time and click on any Echo that you've acquired, you'll be able to see their cost. On the other hand, when you head over to the Echo screen for any character, you'll see the total cost they can take on the top left. The maximum cost is the same for all characters, which starts at eight but you can take it up to 12.

To increase your maximum Echo cost, you have to increase your data bank level. You reach the maximum cost at level nine.

As you might already understand, the cost of your Echoes when you place all five on a character needs to be equal to or below this maximum cost. Echo costs depend on their class/rarity as follows:

  • One cost for the Common class
  • Three cost for the Elite class
  • Four cost for the Overlord/Calamity class (the world and weekly bosses)

There's a reason for the higher class Echoes to have higher cost. You can get some sought-after main stats on these Elite, Overlord, and Calamity class Echoes like special DMG bonus and Crit Rate/DMG respectively. With this in mind, you only have a few combinations you can go for with maximum Echo cost:

  • Four, four, one, one one
  • Four, three, three, one, one
  • Four, three, one, one, one

While there can be other combinations, these three are the most recommended for all characters.

How To Get Higher Rarity Echoes

Wuthering Waves: Complete Echo Guide (4)

When you get your first Echo in the game, you might already notice a green color on its logo. This refers to the Echo's rarity, which is different from their class. You can find green, blue, purple, and gold Echoes in Wuthering Waves, but you won't be able to get most of them in the beginning.

To get higher rarity Echoes, you have to upgrade your data bank levels. Head over to your data bank and you'll be able to see each level's effects on the bottom left. You can start getting blue Echoes at level five, purple at level eight, and gold at level 15. Your chances of getting high-rarity Echoes also increases with level.

To have a chance at getting higher rarity Echo, you first have to get a drop after defeating an enemy.

The Echo drop rate starts at six percent and goes up to a maximum of 20. However, you can have a certain amount of higher chances for these drops on boss enemies. These reset every week.

Ideally, you'd want to start farming Echoes for your main characters every day as soon as you reach level 15 on the data bank. Though this doesn't mean spending Waveplate on Tacet Fields.
