Materials for DIY pumpkin spice soap

The materials forhomemade pumpkin spice soap include a melt and pour soap base, real pumpkinspice, a fall essential oil blend for soaps, and a little pumpkin seed oil andvitamin E oil.

Why? Because pumpkinseed oil and vitamin E oil are very skin-loving ingredients. The oils make themelt and pour soap good for skin and very moisturising. The changing weatherand dry autumn air can leave your skin and hands dry, and a hydrating soap helpsto hydrate your skin.

In case you don’t haveor don’t want to use pumpkin seed oil, I also tested the melt and pour soapwith coconut oil, which works great, too. I like adding vitamin E oil in homemadesoap recipes, because the vitamin fights free radical damage and is animportant ingredient for anti-ageing skincare.

Tips for how to make melt pour soap with essential oils

As I mentioned, making melt and pour soap with essential oils is one of the easiest beautycrafts you can make. Here are a few tips that will help you to make thispumpkin spice soap:

Melting and pouring the soap base

Melt and pour soapbases are sold as blocks of soap. To melt the soap evenly and avoid burnt soap,it’s best to cut the base into small cubes, approximately 1 in / 2.5 cm insize.

Melt and pour soapforms a skin, which is completely normal for this type of soap. Use a skewer toremove the skin or heat again in the microwave for 30 seconds to re-melt.

Adding pumpkin pie spice

Pumpkin pie spicecan form lumps when you stir it into the soap base, even if you sifted the spicemix beforehand. Use a whisk to dissolve any lumps. I also found thatmicrowaving for a few seconds helps to dissolve clumps.

Soap mould

The silicone soap mouldis relatively soft, so place it on a cutting board or tray. This way you caneasily lift and move the mould without damaging or spilling the cooling soap, for example, when you put the soap in the refrigerator to harden.

You can use manyother soap moulds, too, for shaping your pumpkin spice soap. For example, if you like a pumpkin shaped soap, try this pumpkin mould.

Chilling the soap

While you’ll onlyneed 10 minutes for melting and pouring, the fall hand soap needs a little timeto firm up. You can either let the soap set at room temperature, which will take2 to 3 hours, or in the refrigerator for 30 to 45 minutes.
